Memory & Model rules
Memory is measured in tokens. A token is a small unit of text (like a word fragment) that counts toward how much memory is used. This includes your messages, character background, and the bot's replies.
Two Types of Memory
Your Current Memory Usage
- The actual tokens being used from your ongoing conversation and character background.
- This is the number directly linked to Coin consumption.
- It always stays at or below your Max Memory Limit setting.
Max Memory Limit
- The maximum limit you allow the chat to remember.
- This is a cap you choose (e.g. 20k, 50k, 100k tokens).
- This does not decide Coin cost. It only restricts how far memory can grow.
- Your Current Memory Usage will never exceed this cap.
Apply to all characters
- Turn off "Apply to all characters": The system will ask for confirmation. After turning it off, any Max Memory Limit changes for this character become an exclusive setting and will not affect other characters.
- Turn on "Apply to all characters": This character returns to global mode. After saving, the current memory limit syncs to all your characters.
